Autumn Sunset Magic at Intimate Quarry Farm Wedding

A Picturesque Venue, A Heartfelt Ceremony, And One Stunning Sunset Sky

Dusk Wedding Portrait at Quarry Farm

Some weddings really bring you back to what matters—connection, laughter, family, and the feeling of celebrating somewhere special. Jessie and Chris’s day at Quarry Farm was the perfect mix of those things. Although the ceremony kicked off later than planned, everyone stayed relaxed and just went with it. There was plenty of time for guests to catch up, swap stories, and enjoy the surroundings. Celebrant Robyn Paterson set a warm, lighthearted tone by encouraging guests to get involved and connect in a fun, memorable way. Even with just three hours to document everything, there was no shortage of real, meaningful moments to capture. It just goes to show that focusing on what’s important makes even a short celebration feel full and memorable.

A Ceremony Full of Meaning and Love

One of the highlights was working with Celebrant Robyn Paterson. Robyn has a real gift for crafting ceremonies that feel both personal and genuine, setting such a warm and inviting tone for the day. As Jessie and Chris stood together in the rustic shearing shed—surrounded by the arbour, timber beams, and stunning floral arrangements in muted pinks and whites—Robyn guided them and their family and friends through a ceremony filled with laughter and heartfelt moments. She didn’t just share the couple’s story; she invited everyone in, creating a relaxed and connected atmosphere that made the space feel truly intimate. There were little glances, held hands, smiles, and even a few tears as Jessie and Chris exchanged their vows. Having a celebrant like Robyn makes the whole experience even more meaningful—not just for the couple, but for the guests and for those of us lucky enough to capture it all. After being announced as ‘married’ and sealing it with a kiss, Jessie and Chris signed the register, toasted with a beer, and made their way back down the aisle, where we captured a joyful group photo.

Making the Most of Every Moment

On a day where time was tight and the light was fading fast, everyone trusted the process and rolled with the changes. There was lots of laughter, a bit of creative hustle, and a shared determination to make the most of the gorgeous farm before the sun dipped behind the hills. Shooting with a condensed timeline truly brought out the heart of the day—and proved that you don’t need endless hours to capture memories that will last a lifetime.

Jessie was so kind to share this lovely review afterwards:

"How amazing you are!! With limited time you knocked out some of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen!! Thank you so much for a great experience. I'm in absolute awe of the photos."

Embracing the Unexpected on Wedding Days

If I’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that wedding days rarely follow a strict script. Things can change in an instant, and this day was no exception. An unexpected delay before the ceremony meant our time for portraits was much shorter than planned, but everyone stayed positive and flexible. This is where experienced professionals really come into their own. Being able to adapt, stay calm, and think on your feet makes all the difference when things don’t go exactly as expected. Instead of getting flustered, you learn to embrace those changes and use them to your advantage. Sometimes, it’s these little surprises that bring out the best ideas and lead to some truly unforgettable images, even when working under pressure. Having to stick to a couple of locations due to fading light actually resulted in some epic photos.

Why Quarry Farm is a Favourite Venue

Quarry Farm is hands down one of my favorite venues to photograph. There’s a certain magic in the air—rustic charm, wide-open fields, and those epic WA sunsets. Jessie and Chris chose to say their vows in the classic shearing shed, surrounded by family, friends, and their gorgeous children. The warm timber and natural light make every ceremony there so inviting, relaxed, and picturesque.

Every time I shoot at Quarry Farm, I find new corners and views that inspire me. Whether it’s the dam framed by a lovely gazebo and weeping willows, the weathered sheds full of rustic character, the open fields that truly feel like real countryside, the picturesque jacaranda lane, or the old, sprawling fig tree—all set less than an hour from Perth—this venue provides the perfect backdrop for honest, relaxed storytelling.
I can’t wait to be back at Quarry Farm again soon!

Sunset Magic and Lasting Memories

Just as we wrapped portraits, Quarry Farm treated us to one of its famous sunsets. The sky lit up in all the best ways, giving us that golden glow for Jessie and Chris to savor those first moments as newlyweds. These candid, unplanned moments—of closeness, and soaking in the scenery—are always my favorites.

Congratulations, Jessie and Chris! Your wedding was such a beautiful example of how, even when the day throws a curveball, the love, energy, and setting come together to make magic. Thank you for trusting me to capture it all at one of my absolute favorite venues.
